Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened a terrorism probe after a major railroad incident in the central part of the country on Saturday. Officials said that an explosion was behind the incident, in which more than a dozen freight cars derailed.

Investigators have opened a criminal case over a “terrorist act” and “illegal possession… of explosive materials or explosive devices,” a statement published on Telegram said.
